A Wiki is...

  • Software that allows collaborative website development.
  • It can be used for a variety of purposes:
    • collaborating online
    • creating an internal knowledge base
    • assembling an online community
    • managing a traditional website
    • personal note-taking

Note: This wiki uses MediaWiki, which is the software system originally written for Wikipedia.

Major Features

The wiki has four major features that make it uniquely useful for collaborative work. To get the most out of the wiki for group work, it is best to make use of the following features:

  • Article pages
  • Discusson/Talk pages
  • Watchlist
  • History

Used together, these features make collaborative work more efficient and manageable. See the How to/Quick Tips for on using these features.
